Request Indexing Through Google Search Console
This instruction is with the assumption that you have all your search console settings done and now you need to check and ensure that all your content is indexed by google.
- That being said, log into your Search Console and from the home page navigate down to the heading “Coverage”. This should be found in the left hand corner of your page.
- From here you will see about 4 options – please see below:
INDEX COVERAGE RESULT WINDOW – GOOGLE SEARCH CONSOLE
Now that you are on this page, the box to check is Excluded. This area deals with content you have that has been excluded from Google. It is this content that you need to get google to index. So what if you have 41 or more, or less content that has been excluded by google?
- Click on Excluded. This will give you a popup data showing all content excluded. This will also show the date line in which they were excluded.
- In the Details section of the exluded content click on Discovered – currently not indexed. Here you will now see all the URLs of each content that has been excluded. Slide your cursor over the article you need indexed and you select the “Inspect URL” icon. This icon looks ike a search glass. Google will search for the details.
Next you will see URL is not on Google – This page is not in the index (explaining that this may not be because of any errors).
- To ensure that there are indeed no errors the next step is to test your URL. In the upper right hand corner look for and click on Test Live URL. Google will now test your URL – this usually takes about a minute or two.
Once the result comes back from Google and showing all of the main points checked off in GREEN you are good to proceed.
LIVE TEST URL RESULT READY TO REQUEST INDEXING
If not, then you need to investigate and correct where errors are located. Once you are green to go (as shown above) then go ahead and click on REQUEST INDEXING. A request will be submitted to Google. You will get a notification that your URL was added to a priority queue to be crawled. This will also indicate that making multiple submissions will not change its queue nor make it more of a priority. This indexing request normally takes a couple or few days to be completed s be patient. Click on “GOT IT” from the notification window and then you can proceed to request indexing of other content.
To request other content right after one has already been requested I would advise not to hit the back button. However, go ahead and click on the Coverage menu once more and then following the steps above for request your next indexing. Always remember to test live url before each submission.
