In this article we will be looking at some of the hidden features of the all new PlayStation 5 console. There is no doubt that we should be expecting some amazing PS5 new features and upgrades. Lets dive right into them.
A Base Stand? Cool
The base stand for the PS5 is used for when you want to place your PlayStation 5 on its side. Unlike the PS4, the PS5 is a delicate machine and needs to be taken care of properly.
You can get your PS5 set on its side by lining up the base stand with the PlayStation logos located at the back.

Of course you can let your PS5 stand on its own up right without anything. However it is recommended that you use the base stand. Yes you can use base stand to have your PS5 stand upright as well. This is not just for side placements. Here is how to do this.
Installing your PS5 base stand
- Rotate your stand to unveil the hidden screw that is supplied.
- Remove the screw and unpluck the small circular place holding on the underside of your PS5. This will be located where your PS5 place of manufacture is written – China? lol, moving on.
- Ensure that the back part of the base holder lines up with the rear of the PS5 and then install your screw and tighten gently. You can then put the black cover circular piece back in place for storage.
PS5 New Features – New PlayStation 5 Controller
The new PlayStation 5 controller does come with a lot of new features. The usual share button now comes with an additional feature. If you press it down and hold it will take you a screenshot. Cool right? Also if you double tap the share button it will begin recording. And of course if you tap it once it will bring up your menu option where you can select between save recent gameplay, do a new recording or select a screenshot. As well as you can access other settings without having to go to your actual settings.
On the New PlayStation 5 Controller below the PS button you will find the new mic control button. Yes the PS5 comes with a microphone built into the controller. By single tapping the button you will mute the mic. If you press and hold it, it will now mute your TV. If you see the color orange, that will indicate that either the TV or your PS5 microphone is muted.
How to Quickly Turn off your PS5 Controller?
In addition to the PS5 New Features. This is very handy as you will no longer need to go into settings to turn off your PS5 controller. I always found it a little irritating to always have to go into settings to turn off my PS4 controller. Well, no more.
To Turn off your PS5 Controller independently just simply press the PS button along with the Share/Create button and keep holding them down until the controller turns off. Pretty neat right?
