This is not good for your website nor for the ranking of a website. So in this article we will look at one way to remove pages with duplicate content on your website.
This is a simple mistake that new web creator may do. However we want to expose this so it does not happen to you. But first just what does it mean to have duplicate content on your website? Yes the title suggest what it means but let us look into this on a webmaster point of view.
Duplicate Content
Duplicate content refers to the existing of identical content that appears several times on different websites. This is more than likely a technical problem. It can also be a problem in your content management. The later means that nobody writes the same text or article(s) twice. This would only happen in the even that you copy from someone.
Duplicate content could also be as a result of complete text of a post in the list of post on a homepage. Or could happen on tag pages. Duplicate content is a big problem. One that should be avoided to prevent search engines negatively impacting your website when indexing.
Here are a few Tips to Remove Pages with Duplicate Content
- First thing is first. Ensure that your content is unique.
- Be sure that you are creating your own content from scratch
- If you are moving websites ensure that your content is wiped from any other site except the one you intend it to be on
- Try to avoid linking one article to multiple Categories or Tags.
- Also, in addition to the last point above, try to not have one article linking to a category and also to a tag – this may come off as the same article being on two different pages. One being the Category page and one being the Tag page.
