Automotive Service Department: Alignment Gone Wrong! Read on to understand why you should never complete a wheel alignment at Canadian Tire. So on January 17th, 2023 I went to Canadian Tire in Chatham ON, to complete a full wheel alignment. This alignment was for my 2016 Ford Explorer. I handed my keys and was told I would be called once the alignment was completed. Close to 2 hours later I was notify that the service was completed. I was charged about $188 and change. This Ford is a 4WD, so I figured all is well now. I was very wrong.
Wheel Alignment Gone Wrong
We are now in October and as I inspect the vehicle to change over my tires to winter tires I realize that the outer section of both rear tires are completely gone. The inner section of the rear wheels are perfectly fine and brand new and so is the front wheels inner and outer areas (still brand new). I was shocked.
As a result, I went to the store on October 26th and spoke with the sales Rep who told me that a note was on their system’s invoice history. This note apparently indicated that my vehicle had aftermarket parts with some missing knots/bolts. This apparently prevented them from completing a full alignment on the rear. I asked them why I was not notify of this issue and why they still completed a partial alignment. They said they did not know as they (those specific persons) did not work on the vehicle at the time. They then suggested that they would call for a Manager. A Manager came and indicated that she has no idea how to handle this situation and suggested that I return the following day to speak with the Service Manager as he was not there on the 26th.
Canadian Tire Manager’s Interaction
Yesterday October 27th I returned to the store and met with the Service Manager (Brandon), who indicated that this transpired in January and he was not there so he cannot do anything about it. SMH, unacceptable. I told Brandon that something like this is not noticed after a week or two and I work from home so daily long distance journeys are not done so I would notice sooner.
I also told him that I really came back to speak with him to see if Canadian Tire would not take any responsibility for my vehicle – 1. Not being aligned properly 2. Not being informed properly of what they actually did and 3. The result which now have me faced with buying two new tires and still to get the vehicle aligned properly.

He said Canadian Tire would not do anything about it as it was on my invoice and I should have read it. SMH! Normally if you bring me an invoice I would check how much I was charged for the job you claim was completed, I told him, apparently I was to sit down and read through every detail as to what was done and not done when I was told the full alignment was completed.
This is the type of service Canadian Tire has to offer? I cry shame if the answer is yes. Is this the Manager they have in charge to deal with their valued customer? I would also cry shame if this is the case. Because I do not feel valued. Also, I feel like my money was take with intentions of only gaining capital. I was left in the dark and now I am suffering lost because of negligence and incompetence on the Canadian Tire’s staff that I have dealt with. I now have alignment to pay for again and on top of that I now have two tires to buy. Keep in mind that I went there with 4 brand new tires.
Canadian Tire Wheel Alignment – Final Thoughts!
Of all my years of shopping at Canadian Tire and trusting their brand. I would never return to Canadian tire to trust them with my vehicle. I am also writing this review with the hope that people would not suffer the ordeal that I have. Also with the hope that Management who knows how to cater to their customers reviews this and action it to prevent these type of unfortunate situation from happening in the future.
